Disc and screen filters can be used to filter recirculating water in cooling towers to help prevent the accumulation of solids in the tower basin, heat exchangers, chillers and piping in the system.  Keeping the water clean helps maintain a balanced water treatment sytem which prevents growth of bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms in the system (e.g. Legionella).
